What is an insurance?
Insurance is a protection. In this case the health of the individual is taken care of. It secures the right medical care in case of illness. It pays for medication, hospitals or regular checkouts by the local doctor. In this way it protects people from having money problems when he or she has a serious illness and long stays in hospital.
Some people believe that health insurance gives an all-over better health standard. If health care is free, people will seek medical advice and treatment earlier. Then illnesses will be discovered, treated and cured before they lead to serious health problems.
The community also suffers when somebody is ill. It costs a lot of money for the employer when somebody is out of work. He has to get somebody else in to do what the missing person should have done. Or he has to wait for the worker to come back. In this way the individual place of work and the whole society produce less. This costs extra money.
