Task 1       

Why was it clear that the North would be the winner of the military confrontation?

Explain to your class.

 

Task 2       

The war cost the nation more than just the number of dead. Think about this and make a speech on the topic.

Look in chapter 2 "Giving Talks in Class" for help.

 

Task 3       

Find the words with the same meaning. Write them down one above the other.

Task 4       

Translate these sentences into English. Use the verb put.

Task 6       

Harriet, the Moses of her People, is a book that describes the life story of Harriet Tubman, a fugitive slave who risked her own life a number of times by going back to the South to bring fleeing slaves to their freedom in the North.

Find her story on Internet. Take notes and tell the rest of your group about the bravery of this woman.
