What is a civil war?

 

Task 1       

Make a list of the Southern States which called themselves the Confederate States of America. Find them on a map.

 

Task 2       

What kind of activities were typical of the society in the North? Write down as many as you can. Compare the results of task 1 and 2.

Work in pairs.

Why do you think such a war is more difficult to fight than a war between two countries?

Discuss with your partner what you think about it.

 

Task 4       

Why did the North and the South go to war? Find four reasons which you take down in your notebook. Compare with a fellow student.

 

Task 5       

Why did the North win the war? Take down at least three points in your notebook. Compare with another student.

 

Task 6       

Use the following key words and tell the story about the Civil War:

Task 7

Task 8
